A Fond Farewell to Tom Primrose…

As we look ahead to our performance of ‘A Sea Symphony’ on 5 July, we also prepare to bid a heartfelt farewell to our wonderful Chorus Master, Tom Primrose. This season finale will mark Tom’s final engagement with Cambridge Philharmonic as he departs to take up an exciting new position as a conductor on the staff of the Netherlands Reisopera.

Tom has served as our Chorus Master since just before the pandemic, guiding the chorus through every concert since and stepping onto the podium to conduct the orchestra on several occasions. His tenure has included many memorable moments, not least our landmark collaborations with the UEA Chorus for Elijah (2024) and The Dream of Gerontius (2025), both record‑breaking for the number of singers on stage. His spirited appearance as a pirate in this year’s sea‑themed family concert will also live long in our memories.
We extend our sincere thanks to Tom for his inspiring musicianship, dedication and leadership, and we wish him every success as he embarks on this exciting new chapter.

Remaining tickets for our season finale are still available. Do join us to celebrate Tom’s outstanding contribution and to see him off in fine style.
