Sowing the seeds…A creative music workshop

Wesley Methodist Church, Christ's Pieces, Cambridge CB1 1LG

31st Jan 26, 2-5pm

Cambridge Philharmonic is very excited to be hosting a workshop with composer Jonathan Brigg and librettist Jonathan Ainscough. In this fun and engaging event, we will ‘plant seeds’ for a potential newly commissioned work for choir and orchestra to be performed in a future Cambridge Philharmonic season. Both our workshop leaders are highly experienced facilitators and longstanding collaborators with years of experience in creative music making across musical theatre, jazz, improvisation, opera and classical music. Previously they have, for example, worked together at the Royal Opera House on a new children’s opera.

This event will be a wonderful opportunity to engage with the creative composition process, using voice, instruments, imagination and spontaneity, working alongside participants from our chorus and orchestra.

The perfect way to begin 2026, collaborating with others to experiment and create something new and exciting  ideas.

Who is the workshop for?

All are welcome, from singers, to instrumentalists and those interested in composing. The workshop aims to be exciting, creative, experimental and collaborative. A time to share ideas, unite musically and create brand new music.  You’re welcome to bring instruments if you think that might spark your creativity. It will feel comfortable; we will be working in large groups and you do not have to have any specific skills except enjoyment of music and music making in any genre.

We welcome younger participants from age 16+ (under 18s must come with an adult over 18).

Please bring a drink and/or  a snack if you wish.

If you have any questions about the workshop, please get in touch with our Chorus Secretary,  Elaine chorus-secretary@cam-phil.org.uk
