Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition is a colourful depiction of a journey through an art gallery. Ten contrasting paintings, interspersed with an intriguing promenade, all culminate in the majestic and awe-inspiring finale entitled The Great Gate of Kyiv.

‘Herein is enshrined the soul of …..’ – whilst the five dots in Elgar’s enigmatic inscription to his Violin Concerto continue to be a mystery, the work itself has become enshrined in the souls of violinists as one of the most fiendishly difficult concertos in the repertoire. We are delighted to welcome international sensation Anthony Marwood to tackle this vast Romantic titan together.

Dynamic young British composer Dani Howard’s Coalescence explores the interaction between humanity and nature, with glittering orchestral soundscapes inspired by the blossoming of trees in urban spaces. Commissioned by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, it is a virtuosic showpiece for the orchestra.
