The 123 applications received is indicative of the history and standing the Philharmonic has in the musical world. We are looking forward to appointing a new Musical Director who can build on Tim Redmond’s legacy and lead us to new musical heights.
Tim has been our Musical Director for the last 13 years. During this time he has overseen a transformation in the performance levels of the Philharmonic which is now recognised as one of the best orchestras and choruses of their type in the UK.
We have a rigorous selection process that will result in a short list of three candidates each of whom will be asked to rehearse and conduct a concert involving both orchestra and chorus in the 2020/21 season. This will enable the members of the Cambridge Philharmonic to get to know and express their opinions on who should be appointed.
